What do you do on a long weekend for your anniversary? Take a road trip to Skåne with your new kitten, obviously. Classic.
(Oh, hi everyone. We got a kitten. Her name is Arya and she’s attacking my fingers right now.)
Wanting to find a place a short drive away (about 2 hours from Gothenburg), Joe and I picked Helsingborg By The Sea, of course. We found a small cabin in a nearby town on AirBnb where we could drive and not have to leave our kitten back home alone for the weekend.
It was short and sweet. We spent Thursday and Friday wandering around Helsingborg, walking the coast and waving to Denmark across the water. Friday evening we went to Sofiero Slott, where the castle grounds were aglow with a lights festival to kick off the Christmas season. Then, Saturday we drove and hiked around the Kullaberg nature reserve. A nice tour of a little corner of Skåne.
One highlight of Kullaberg was a visit to the cliffside micronation of Ladonia, which has been independent since 1996 and centers around a strange, gigantic wooden driftwood sculpture. It was cool, but we visited too late in the day and only got one photo before it started to get dark and we had to make the (surprisingly arduous) climb back toward civilization.
Enjoy the photos!
BONUS: Meet Arya. 🙂
